'Guns 4 Xmas' by The National Cynical Network (NCN)

Construction of this 'Mega-Media MetaMix' (a 'mix of mixes') began about a week after the Ethan Crumbley shooting at Oxford High School on November 30, 2021 which it should be noted was less than a month away from Christmas of that year.

After pleading guilty to 24 charges, including murder and terrorism, in October 2022, Crumbley was sentenced in December 2023 to life imprisonment without parole and an additional 24 years.

The incident at Oxford High School resulted in the deaths of four students and injuries to seven other people. Authorities arrested and charged Crumbley as an adult for the crimes he committed with a 9mm handgun.

In researching this case in December of 2021, it quickly came to light that the gun used in the Crumbley shooting was provided to the 15 year old shooter as a family gift, in fact: a Christmas gift.

Mere hours prior to the shooting, disturbing drawings by Ethan on a math worksheet were discovered which included several disturbing images and phrases. The drawings were discovered by a teacher and prompted a meeting with school counselors and his parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley all of whom tragically let Ethan go back to class with his family-gifted gun in his backpack, unknown to potentially-intervening school staff at the time.

Furthermore, this aspect of the case was identical to another historically significant school shooting, namely what has been called the very first one and also in 2025 this aspect of the implement of death turning out to be a family gift to the assailant bears a parallel too with the shooting of Charlie Kirk by Taylor Robinson (at a school) on September 10th of that year which is explored at the very end of our MetaMix.

The parents of Ethan Crumbley were charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter for failing to take reasonable steps to prevent the shooting. This was the first time in U.S. history that the parents of a mass school shooter were held criminally responsible for their child's actions.

NCN's MetaMix (alternately titled as 'A Gun for Christmas') explores and documents how unfortunately mass shootings have essentially become an American tradition and even a 'family tradition' to be handed down quite literally 'for the love of Christ' ofttimes and how this tradition too has become a subject of artistic, and perhaps most properly cathartic, expression as rendered differently in subsets of the country's overall culture and the world at large: the creations that come out of destruction.
