about

It's a story of friendship, a story that intertwines, or rather traces in perspective, memories, greetings and news of our times. Of all the times we live in. One Another Orchestra appeared as an apodictic spark. Music against collapse. And on the widely unfolded map, we could read the names of Beb Guérin, Jacques Thollot, Michel Portal, Lol Coxhill, Nina Simone, Jef Lee Johnson, Sidney Bechet, the contours of history in turmoil: Eritrea, Spain, Louisiana, Standing Rock, France ... With at the heart a poem by Federico Garcia Lorca spoken by a guest who, from the heights of Machu Picchu, addresses it to the whole world. A new group of six (to seven) formed in the midst of hospitable nature, finding their travelling joys in history and expressing their anger, dreams and aspirations in the reflections of the present day.

"You can feel the pleasure of being together. The music is light. We feel the weight of passion. The music is serious. We feel the lyricism of resistance. The music is just music. We feel the warmth inside us that the political winter had allowed to cool."
Jean-Jacques Birgé in Médiapart - May 1, 2024

Jean-Jacques Birgé in Médiapart - 1er mai 2024

about

nato records Paris, France

Founded in 1980, nato records quickly constituted a puzzle with all sorts of openings without any other restriction than that of producing meaning, that of a music living with the world. More than a puzzle, an island perhaps, made up of passionate encounters, which made Francis Marmande write in Le Monde "The most original production of this time" (Sept. 10, 1992). ... more
