Excerpt from "What I Didn’t Tell" lecture-performance, 2024. Video: Cristian Radu

What I Didn’t Tell (2024), is a lecture-performance that comes from a long-standing desire to give shape to a series of personal texts (2019-2024) about 9 affective encounters with different people in places where space played a key role in the narrative; from the Astronomical Observatory, to Malvarrosa beach in Valencia, from the former Dominican convent in Antwerp, to the rooftop of a building north of Frankfurt or on the Swiss border with France & so on. The texts are organized in chronological order of the months of the year and subtly translated through gestures that play with light, sound and movement.

I have to say that structuring the lecture felt more like putting together a record, with each story as a piece revealing how our temporary, intimate moments with significant others can shift based on our surroundings, or how paying attention to detail is undoubtedly a way of showing love, or about those things you couldn't say or name to the other at the time because you were busy letting life happen to you.

Many thanks to Mihai Iepure-Gorski, Electroputere Gallery for the invitation & to the National Center of Dance Bucharest for the access to Sala Omnia, to Răzvan Dima for the set-design, to Nanci Nanculescu for giving a final touch to the show the evening before the event, to my brother Paul who sponsored my dress, to Andreu (Ubaldo) for the beautiful tracks that accompanied the intro and the end of the lecture & to Vlad Basalici for the conversations we had earlier this year. “The frame you set for a lecture-performance is sometimes more important than what you deliver. What matters is how you make people feel.”
