I’ve been using this inlay technique for years and years, but it’s always exciting to watch the magic when I wipe off the black stain and reveal the nice crisp lines. I just started working with an Iris motif, but have never drawn peonies before. I’m so excited to see how this turns out. And also see what inspiration this spring and summer’s flowers bring me! In this video: I have bone dry bowl that a carved the design into when it was leather hard. Colored clay- The wedging method is quick and of course messy and a lot of wedging but you can use it right away and the other method is usually how I prefer which is mixing stain with slip and letting it dry on plaster board and wedge.
