Eucalyptus trees

River red gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) (Murray red gum) is an iconic tree that grows along waterways and is also found dotted across pastureland in many areas of rural Australia. The bark is a rough and ochre- red- brown and peels to reveal a creamy white and creamy green beneath. The leaves are lance-shaped to curved and dull green or greyish green It has white flowers and large, stalked gumnuts. It grows to a height of 30–40m with a canopy of 15m+.

Salmon gum (Eucalyptus salmonophloia) (Wurak, Weerluk) is a small to medium-sized tree endemic to Western Australia. It has pale grey bark that is shed in flakes to reveal salmon-coloured new bark in summer, narrow lance-shaped to curved leaves, creamy white flowers and hemispherical gumnuts. It typically grows to a height of 4–30m.

Old town Claremont is full of these huge Eucalyptus trees and a few years back a limb from one of them that was much bigger than this one fell during a storm and killed some people by crushing their car.
