James Hargreaves was born around January 8th, 1721, in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, England, and died in April 22nd, 1778, in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. He was the inventor of the spinning jenny, the first practical application of multiple spinning by a machine. It was a significant factor in the industrialization of the textile industry.
