These readers can read /c/a/t but when blending the phonemes together they may say “car” or “catch” or another similar word. If this happens take a step back and do this: 1. Read each sound adding on one letter at a time 2. Scoop the first and second sound together, then add the final sound 3. Agree with all of these EXCEPT stating the objective every time before any discovery has been made. Identifying and talking, writing, elaborating on and building ipon the objective after it's been discovered is just fine. But if you tell the end of the story before you even get into it, well, we all know how we feel about spoilers.
