I use writing folders rather than notebooks with my students. 📝 Folders work well for me because a) students are able to use individual writing pages stapled together and are less likely to get confused about where their stories begin and end, and b) it gives students a place to store tools like an alphabet chart or editing checklist! I like to use the same journal all year for my students so we this helpful writing card to organize that.  

It’s so easy – train your students to lift one page and place under the flap to hold their spot! Here’s how to set them up…  

Print the FREE writing card at 90%

Laminate and trim the writing card

Use regular box tape to attach it to the front cover of notebook

IMPORTANT: Leave a space so there’s room to grow when it folds into the notebook

Teach students to flip the writing card page into the front cover for every new page they use!
