Named for Edinburgh educated medical doctor, Thomas Addison who first identified changes in skin pigmentation in patients with a peculiar form of “anaemia”, Addison’s disease is a serious form of adrenal insufficiency. Marked by extreme fatigue, gastrointestinal disturbances and rapid weight loss, the condition (though completely treatable) can be fatal without proper medical intervention.[5]
