A shard of crackle glaze covered clay, together with a second image that shows a handful from my current bucket of smashed vessels that has been slowly accumulating and filling up over the past year. They’re sweet things, which I’ll save until someone approaches to find a use for them, although that hasn’t stopped me from smashing some fragments, sieving them, and adding the very fine powder back into fresh stoneware clay. Some I save for good, for no reason other than my own enjoyment, such…

Too soon, and the freshly trimmed pot can distort rather easily as the protrusion is pressed on, too late, and if the pot is beginning to turn bone dry, then the likelihood of a crack forming somewhere along its length is greatly increased. Any vinegar will do so just buy a cheap jug Blend with an emulsion blender stick. Don’t skip this step. It should be the consistency of course toothpaste. You can add more paper to make it harder…

Anjali | QUIRKY CERAMICS on Instagram: "While my glaze firing is not going as I anticipated , taking a break to upload this hack on handling cracks! Not a fan of making handles and hate when it cracks. This hack saves a whole lot of time and energy . Just make some slip with vinegar instead of water and attach the coil. Cover and slow dry. Vinegar makes the clay more plastic which makes it stick together again. I will make another video on why it is happening and how to avoid handle…
