Amber Benge 🌻 Grace Walk Farm on Instagram: "This is how we build raised beds… 🌱 We like the 4x8 size best. It’s easy to access from either side and you can easily grow 2-3 “rows” per bed. 🌱 We prefer using pine or treated lumber. But cedar, stone, metal, bricks, or even concrete blocks can work. Use what you’ve got! 🌱 Your raised bed should be at least 10 inches deep for strong root development. If your beds don’t have a bottom, the soil will gradually improve below your bed, giving you fertile soil to work with on a deeper level in future years. 🌱 Your Garden = Your Rules! Build it the way you want and grow what you want. This is just a look at how WE do it. But there’s no right or wrong way to build a garden. 👉 Grab a FREE copy of my book “The Garden Guide” to see my diagrams o Cement Block Raised Garden Beds, Brick Raised Garden Beds, Stone Raised Beds, Build A Garden, Garden Plot, Texas Garden, Building Raised Beds, Metal Raised Garden Beds, Instagram Recipes

Writing this on a below-freezing day seems appropriate. We’ve just avoided the first frost, lifted our tender perennials, and staked overwintering kale, sprouts, and broccoli. The beds are weeded, scrubbed down and, those that need it, are covered with fleece tunnels. Yet, with twelve more weeks of true winter, and plenty of cold spring nights...

I’m in the process of converting an old unkept allotment into an organic no-dig vegetable garden and it’s finally time to create the main growing beds! And of course they are all going to be created utilising the ‘no-dig’ or ‘minimal disturbance’ methodology. This old allotment space had been dug over year after year and the soil has sunk and degraded overtime. But by mulching instead of digging or tilling, we can mimic natural processes and start to rebuild that soil structure and allow the myriad of life within to thrive whilst creating a symbiotic relationship with the plants we then grow, increasing yields and boosting biodivers No Soil Gardening, Allotment Garden, Allotment Ideas, Allotment Gardening, Healthy Herbs, Natural Resources, How To Make Bed, Permaculture, Garden Beds
