You can’t memorize your way through the language ♥️ 

Yes, our language has irregular words or what we like to call Red Words. They can be tricky…

But, you don’t need to memorize those either! Just the part we have to!

Whole word memorization is not best practice and when we map a word by its sounds,(even when there’s an irregular part or two) we are supporting the process by which our brain learns to read and then can eventually store that word as a sight word. 

The eventual storing of a word as a sight word is the ultimate goal. That means automatic retrieval of a word! ♥️

❌ Read the sounds and come up with a whole new word when trying to blend. 

This is common and something we must address! Kids shouldn’t be guessing words or trying to memorize them.
