Library guessing games

February is “I Love to Read” Month in most parts of North America! What a great way to promote a love of books in your classroom!!

Library Card Signup Month is here! Getting a library card is important for so many reasons, and I want to promote it as much as possible at my library. When I saw this Pinterest post asking for guesses about the number of books in the library my first thought was: Why not have people guess how many library cards we give out in a year? Here are a few things we learned on National Library Week. Visit us;

For the month of April we set up a game of Guess Who. We took 12 of the new books and made guess who cards for one character per book. Students who would like to play can check out one of the 12 books abd when they’re done reading they can guess which card corresponds to that book.

Guess the book -shred a weeded book & have students guess the title!

Raffle contest! Guess how many chocolate chips are in the jar...the child w/ the closest guess wins a copy of Mo Willems' "The Duckling Gets a Cookie" along w/ a plush Pigeon. Children may enter guesses each time they come in (through March 12) but must be registered for Winter Reading! All ages welcome to join...even if your child can't read yet, they may report books that their parents read to them.
