I waited until I had 2-3 inches of developed roots. After chopping a leaf of the snake plant into pieces, I let those tips callous (dry) overnight and then added to the cup with water and the container with perlite. The ones in perlite, I kept in a plastic container with no drainage holes and kept the perlite damp. Nothing else to it! I used a premade bag of succulent soil from @solsoils (use code plantskrystal10 for 10 percent off) . If you want to make your own mix instead, I do it often, I use a succulent potting soil and add gravel.
