Since I have been taking professional riding lessons for the past two months, I have decided I need to increase the size of my riding arena. So I want to share with you building a riding arena on a budget. The original space I had was too narrow, and not large enough to incorporate some jumps for schooling.

When creating this riding arena, we considered air flow, lighting, materials, the safety of horse and rider, and ease of access to the facility. With arched open-air windows on one side, and large fans overhead, air flow is never a problem. In fact, “garage doors” can be opened on the opposite length of the arena to make it a pavilion setting for maximum breeze. Large windows and skylights bring in plenty of light, while hand-bent wood bumpers keep horses safely away from the outside walls.
