J.V.Stamic, F.Benda, Richter, Kohout - Symphonies - Bohdan Warchal
"(...) The modern type of postbaroque symphony probably arouse from those formations. It is represented by compositions of musicians of Manheim School. (...) Jan Václav Stamic and Frantisek Xaver Richter established a worldwide famousness of the Manheim Ensemble and created a structural prototype of the symphony or of the orchestral music as whole. This model arisen through an evolution has found its more or less known followers all over the world. The principles of the mdern symphony have been founded this way. (...) Vienna classicism represented by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven is based on principles created by composers and performers of the Manheim School. (...)"

Louis Ferdinand, King of Prussia - Complete works (5 CDs)
(booklet only in german)
Louis Ferdinand Prince of Prussia (1772-1806) was an excellent pianist and composer pioneered the way from the Classical to the Romantic style indeed more distinctly than his contemporaries: "If he is not a composer of the Romantic era, then he must be considered the most romantic of the Classical." - wrote Robert Schumann about Louis Ferdinand. At a meeting in Berlin in 1796 Beethoven said approvingly, "the prince play no royal or princely, but as a capable pianist." Beethoven dedicated him his Third Piano Concerto in recognition of his talents. In 1806 Prince Louis Ferdinand died at the age of only 34 on the battlefield in combat against Napoleon's troops.

Lessel, Dobrzyński - Piano Concertos - Shelley
"The composers whose works feature in this recording can be said to represent two eras: the Classical and the Romantic. Franciszek Lessel [1789-1838] the second of Joseph Haydn's Polish students (...) Lessel's works are marked by an outstanding qualities: they are expertly structured, have daring melodic and harmonic concepts and consist of music that is a pleasure to listen and perform. (...)
While Franciszek Lessel's professional life flowed satisfactorily without any major problems, the earthly existence of Felicks Dobrzyński [1807-1867] was marked by disappointment and daily toil and trouble. (...) Links between the compositions of Dobrzyński and Chopin are numerous (...) Given the similarities between the works of the two composers we can make certain assumptions, such as for example, that Professor Lessel actually encouraged Chopin to model his concerto on Dobrzyński's composition... (...)"

Koželuch - Piano Concertos 1, 4 & 5 - Dratva
"Vienna, 1785: Haydn and Mozart are at the height of their creativity, the young Beethoven will soon appear on the scene as well. Many other extraordinary musicians also contribute to shaping that unique epoch in music history we call the "Viennese Classics". (...) This is the era in which Leopold Koželuch also lives and composes in Vienna. Born in Bohemia and educated in Prague, he moved to Vienne in 1778. In 1792, he became Mozart's successor as chamber composer to the Emperor. He write primarily for the "fortepiano", otherwise known as the hammerklavier. His output: 23 piano concertos, 55 piano sonatas and 65 piano trios.(...)"
