In 1957 George Morton formed a vocal group with friends Marty Monaco, Tony Giannattasio, Victor Eusepi and Sal DiTroia.  Marty Monaco's mother had a basic recording studio in her basement in nearby Levvitown, where the guys wrote, rehearsed and taped demos of their songs. The owner of a local record store took a liking to the young quintet and helped arrange for them to audition for RCA.

The group made their recording debut with "Hot Rod", released on RCA in the summer of 1958. Later that year, RCA released their second 45, "Make A Record, Man"

Recorded at the RCA Studio B in Hollywood on June 7, 1965.

The Astronauts were the first Boulder, Colorado band to make the national charts with "Baja" in 1963 and remained successful for several years, especially in Japan. They have been described as being, along the Trashmen, the premier landlocked Midwestern surf group of the '60s.   For most of their career, the band members were Rich Fifield, Jon "Storm" Patterson, Bob Demmon, Dennis Lindsey, and Jim Gallagher.

Boyce & Hart's "I'm Gonna Buy Me A Dog" was first recorded by The Gamma Goochee for Colpix Records. The backing track to the Gamma Goochee's version is the same track as the Astronauts version on RCA.  Both feature Bobby Hart on percussion and Tommy Boyce on piano with The Astronauts as the core of the band.  Shortly thereafter Boyce and Hart redid "Gonna Buy Me A Dog" with The Monkees (perhaps using the same track?).

Honey Buggie

A former student of Millikan Junior High School, Linda Green of North Hollywood was discovered by Muriel Sanders and Jack Elton;  they've been coaching her for a couple of years when Ray Bolger (actor who played Scarecrow in MGM's classic The Wizard of Oz in 1939) was lucky to hear about her.  And 13-year Linda Green soon appeared in 1960 with Jerry Lewis and Ray Bolger in night club dates in Las Vegas. When she returned from a four-week stay in Las Vegas, pressure of recording and engagements soon forcing her to drop out of junior high and she attended Hollywood Professional School with such young recording stars as Cathy Young and Brenda Lee. 

Fred De Moss wrote "Honey Buggie".  From Yorba Linda, where Nixon was also a resident, Fred De Moss later wrote a pro-Nixon song, "Richard Nixon Is The Man".

Floyd Fisher Wilson was born in 1925.  Tennessee songwriter and performer whose name is mentioned in print between 1953 and 1956, and then nothing...

Floyd Wilson penned one of Darrell Glenn's best recordings,"I Think I'm Falling In Love With You" (Valley Publishers) and Carl Smith had a hit with his song "Go, Boy, Go".  Other well known artists such as Martha Carson, Cowboy Copas, Homer and Jethro recorded his songs.

I wonder if he also the same Floyd Wilson who later produced records in Nashville for Omar Records in the late sixties (recording artists : Bobby Parrish, Carroll Dyer, Linda Cassady)
