The Merck Manual

The Merck Manual is a manual for medical practitioners published since the late 19th century by Merck and Co. The title has varied somewhat over time. (There is a Wikipedia article about this serial.)

Publication History

The first edition of The Merck Manual was published in 1899, as Merck's 1899 Manual of the Materia Medica. The 8th printed edition was titled The Merck Manual of Dianosis and Therapy, and that title has been used on print editions since then. The first copyright-renewed issue is 7th edition, © 1940. We know of no actively copyright-renewed contributions. (More details) As of 2023, the last printed edition is the 20th, published in 2018. The most up to date version is now online. An online consumer edition, meant for a general audience, is also available online.
