The Hansard is the official report of the debates and discussion of the Legislative Council, the legislative body of Hong Kong.
The Legislative Council was created by the 1843 charter for the British colony of Hong Kong. It first met in 1844. This Council was suspended in favor of a Provisional Legislative Council when British rule gave way to Chinese rule in 1997. A reconstituted Legislative Council first met in 1998. The Council, and the reports of its sittings, continue today.
