Open Source with Enterprise Support

Open Source Roots

OpenGRC began as a free and open source (FOSS) project. We built this in response to the big vendors who priced-out SMBs. We don't believe that such a fundamental capability should be limited to only those who can afford a large price-tag and extensive training.

While we are offering enterprise hosting, support, and other similar paid services, OpenGRC will be maintained and developed as an open source project for the forseeable future. OpenSouce is good for business and the world.

How to Contribute

OpenGRC source code and documentation are maintained in GitHub. We regularly receive and review pull-requests from users across the globe who want to make the platform better!

What you get

The Community edition is the full self-hosted platform, free, with no seat limits and no data caps. It covers the core essentials out of the box: risk management, controls and implementations, vendor management, project management, and incident response.

Running it yourself

OpenGRC is a Laravel and Filament application. If you can run a PHP application and a database, you can run OpenGRC. Install it on your own infrastructure, keep your data entirely within your own boundary, and read every line of the source. Setup instructions live in the documentation.

Community or Enterprise?

Community is the right choice when you have specific hosting requirements, want to trial the platform before committing, or simply do not have budget. It stays maintained — it is not a crippled trial.

Enterprise adds the AI and premium modules: AI risk assessments, AI gap assessments, automated vendor survey responses, and MCP server integration for Claude and ChatGPT. It is cloud-hosted by us, with support and an uptime commitment. See pricing for the detail, or how we secure the hosted service.

Getting involved

The source is on GitHub. Issues and pull requests are welcome, and the fastest way to get a gap closed is usually to tell us about it.
