Coming soon: A new sub-referencing feature – try it!

Hello. For many years, community members have requested an easy way to re-use references with different details. Now, a MediaWiki solution is coming: The new sub-referencing feature will work for wikitext and Visual Editor and will enhance the existing reference system. You can continue to use different ways of referencing, but you will probably encounter sub-references in articles written by other users. More information on the project page.

We want your feedback to make sure this feature works well for you:

• Please try the current state of development on beta wiki and let us know what you think.
• Sign up here to get updates and/or invites to participate in user research activities.

Wikimedia Deutschland’s Technical Wishes team is planning to bring this feature to Wikimedia wikis later this year. We will reach out to creators/maintainers of tools and templates related to references beforehand.

The scrutineers have finished reviewing the vote and the Elections Committee have certified the results for the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) special election.

I am pleased to announce the following individual as regional members of the U4C, who will fulfill a term until 15 June 2026:

• North America (USA and Canada)
  • Ajraddatz

The following seats were not filled during this special election:

• Latin America and Caribbean
• Central and East Europe (CEE)
• Sub-Saharan Africa
• South Asia
• The four remaining Community-At-Large seats

Admin bevestigingen 2024

Hallo!

Het is weer die maand van het jaar, de moderatorrechten van Caribiana, Frank Geerlings en mijzelf verlopen na deze maand.

Ik zag dat Caribiana nog steeds heel actief is in bijdragen (dank!!): Frank heeft voor het laatst bewerkt in februari en heb ik daarom vorige week een mailjes gestuurd ivm de benodigde herbevestiging, maar daar nog niks op teruggehoord. Wat betreft mijzelf: mijn Papiaments is niet goed, en ik ben hier dan ook eigenlijk vooral admin voor eventuele technische ondersteuning.

Ik zie dat er de laatste tijd nieuwe bijdragers bij zijn gekomen, ook superfijn! Ik zou voor willen stellen om, naast Dwerg85, in ieder geval 3 redelijk actieve admins te hebben. Ik heb het de laatste tijd te druk gehad om Wikipedia de tijd te geven die het verdient, ik stel me dan ook niet kandidaat voor een verlenging van de admin-periode. Hi @Bdijkstra! Van mij mag het, we hebben hier geen minimum bijdragen.

Vanwege de kleine gemeenschap worden admin functies vaak niet voor langer dan een jaar toegekend, tenzij je 5 of meer stemmen ter ondersteuning krijgt (=het beleid vanuit Meta wiki, voor wiki's zonder beleid voor het aanstellen van mods). De toevoegingen voor gadgets die je voorstelt, zijn die al ergens besproken? Ciell (diskushon) 18:49, 11 sèptèmber 2024 (UTC)

Nee dat is nergens besproken. De gadgets die ik noemde zijn basisgadgets die op vele wiki's zijn geïnstalleerd. Bovendien zijn gadgets optioneel, mensen die er geen weet van hebben, hebben er geen last van. Bdijkstra (diskushon) 16:20, 12 sèptèmber 2024 (UTC)

Uiteraard, maar gadgets kun je eventueel ook installeren via je eigen common.css toch? Als de gemeenschap er geen behoefte aan heeft, hoeft het natuurlijk niet centraal. De veranderingen die hier in 2021 zijn doorgevoerd (oa Wikidata based infoboxes, de Article placeholder optie, en een herziening van de categorieboom) zijn gemeenschapsbesluiten geweest: zie ook deze blog over wat we toen allemaal hebben gedaan. Inderdaad, gadgets kunnen ook via persoonlijke CSS (en JS). Wat ik werkend krijg kan ik eventueel aan de gemeenschap voorstellen als wikibrede gadget. Ciell, het zou leuk zijn je weer eens te zien, maar ik ben vanaf maandag ruim zes weken uitlandig. Veel succes met het onderwerp: de koloniale mode, ik had er ook graag bij willen zijn. Admin confirmation 2024 for Carbiana: new candidates are Kallmemel & Bdijkstra

Hi all,

It's the time of the year again!

At the moment three of the admins on this project (out of a total of four) need their admin rights reconfirmed by the community. Both Ciell and Frank decided to step back, which would leave only Caribiana for this confirmation, but we have two new candidates to join the team!!

Per the rules on Meta, they need 2-4 votes for a 6 month approval (though last year they granted us a year admin term as we now have this confirmation cycle since 2021). 5 or more votes (and 2/3 in favor of the applicant) would mean they get permanent rights. So please let the candidates know if you would be in favor of extending/giving them the admin rights, no hard feelings if you think they should not be prolonged/assigned, but then a little explanation would be nice.
