About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Creative Expressions - Dotty Flourish

Just one project today - a lovely Thank You card that uses the lovely Dotty Flourish 3D Embossing Folder from Creative Expressions.

I used a traditional emboss on the back layer, with Milled Lavender Distress Oxide. The green layer is also using the folder. I embossed a piece of wax paper, ironed it onto Faber-Castell Mixed Media paper, and then inked over with Bundled Sage Distress Oxide. At first look you wouldn't believe that the green layer has been created with the folder!!

The sentiment is Julie Hickey Designs Everyday Sentiment Stamps, and the flowers are Elizabeth Craft Designs 1368 Garden Notes Dahlia.

Spring Foliage Card

Hello. Have a quick share today. This is an 8x8 card made using a combination of Creative Expressions Forget-Me-Not frame 3D Embossing Folder, and Julie Hickey Designs Floral Foliage Stamps.

I used white embossing powder with the stamp, as I didn't want a "hard line".

I used Faber-Castell Goldfaber watercolour pencils (tin of 12) to colour the foliage, and Lucky Clover and Twisted Citron Distress Oxides to ink the edges of the frame.

The lettering is Julie Hickey Designs Sweet Pea Alphabet.

Thanks for popping by, and I hope I have given you a little inspiration. Feel free to follow me here on my blog, or on FaceBookTwitterInstagram or Pinterest. J is for Jasmine

So, we're half way through our I and J challenge over at Use Your Craft Stash on FB. I did "I" last week, so here's my J. A "Just for You" Jar of Jasmine, with Jewels - and a bit of Jade green thrown in for good measure.

I started with the jasmine flowers. I used Crafter's Companion White Flower Forming foam, with dies from Crafter's Companion Classiques Forget Me Knot, Pretty Petal (Crafter's Inspiration 6) and Flowers For All Occasions 2.

I used my Spectrum Aqua Jasmine pen to colour the centre of the flowers, and to colour the white stamens to match.

I embossed a piece of white stamping card with CC 3D Rose Bouquet folder - for the jar! I coloured the leaves with Spectrum Noir pens - LG5, JG1 and JG6 (JG= Jade green).  You can see my little swatch at the bottom of the card. I then mixed Imagination Crafts Alchemy Wax in Peridot, with a bit of water, and painted the stems and swirls.

I used the Jasmine Aqua pen to put a wash over all the flowers and the ribbon, and the Charcoal Aqua pen on the jar.

I painted over the jar with glossy accents to give it a more glassy appearance.

I then stuck the jasmine flowers over the roses on the folder, with leaves cut from a small die that came with the CC Advent calendar a few years ago. I finished it with a big bow and some green jewels!!

We look forward to seeing all your makes!

Happy crafting.

Believe Canvas

Well, blogging seems to go in fits and starts these days. The day job is keeping me really busy, but have the time, energy and inclination to blog!
This canvas combines Imagination Crafts goodies with one of the gorgeous Christmas 3D embossing folders from Crafter's Companion.

I started with White Gesso on the canvas and added Blue Starlights over it whilst wet. Next, I die cut some snowflakes - with a really old Crafter's Companion die set, and stuck those in the corners. I went over these with more gesso.

I then used Imagination Crafts Snoflake Swirl stencil firstly with Blue Starlight to creat a drop shadow, and then with Midnight Blue Sparkle Medium.

The after painting a piece of white card with Pearl Starlight Paint, I embossed it with Crafter's Companion Believe 3D Embossing Folder. Over the top of this, I applied Cobalt and Japanese Jade Alchemy Waxes.

I finished off with a few little clear gems.
