Jenna Vanden Brink Ceramics on Instagram: "Making of this little porcelain tray, from carving the leather-hard piece to pulling it out of the glaze kiln. Couple things I like: The carved texture that subtly remains under the clear glaze. It’s a lot of work to individually carve each piece but I think it makes it extra special, so I like that some evidence of the knife cuts remains. The blue dots on the vase are a nod to my blueberry design 🫐🫐" Cold Finishes For Ceramics, Textured Pottery Ideas, Ceramic Glaze Techniques, How To Glaze Pottery, Glaze Ideas Ceramics, Ceramics Glaze Ideas, Texture On Clay, Pottery Carving Ideas, Underglaze Techniques

Casa Adams Fine Wares on Instagram: "As a ceramic artist, I use a type of paint called underglaze. It's applied on to the clay pieces once they have been fired to 1000 degrees C. They are then sealed with a coat of clear glaze in a final firing, making them food safe. But at 1200 degrees C, underglazes must be made of pretty special chemical components to withstand the heat and still be vibrant. 🟣 Whilst I use lots of underglazes which I have collected from around the world, I really like to make my own. In this video I explain how I mix underglazes, following the recipe given to me at @ceramicstudygroup . It's pretty infallible. The ingredients are: 1 tsp of Frit 4124, 1 tsp of bentonite, 2 tsp of stain (ie the colour) and water. 🟢 Frit is a powdered ceramic that has been fired in the Underglaze Recipes, Underglaze Designs, Ceramic Underglaze, Underglaze Painting, Type Of Paint, Winter Board, Ceramic Glaze Recipes, Glazing Techniques, Clay Pieces

Thanks ClayKing 👑@claykingceramics 👑for sponsoring this post! The tools used are, speedball bats , Mayco underglaze and sodium silicate from CLAY KING Use Code👑👑 “quirky” 👑👑to save $5 on $50 and $10 on $100 How to - The crackle texture! 💬 Thick cylinder is important for this technique or it will collapse later when you try to expand 💬 We could also do this without using an underglaze and fire it with a glaze that shows textures 💬 Sodium silicate has to be dry before expanding and thick coats provide good cracks Hope you find this useful. Art By Hana Rubi on Instagram: "So here’s how I go about making my ceramic pieces.. I use earthenware clay which then needs firing in a kiln, and in part 2 I’ll be showing how I paint them up using a ‘cold finish’ (not glazed) . Though I realize this process might not be ideal for everyone, I have found it works really well for me. The templates I use do take a long time to design and make and I’ve only shown a tiny bit of that here but you get the idea.. . This is my new fish folk design, I’v Clay Coy Fish, Ceramic Kiln Firing, Clay Fish Wall Hanging, Puffer Fish Ceramics, Folk Design, Ceramic Pieces, Ceramic Shop, Earthenware Clay, Art Clay
