Deconstructed book art

Book sculpture created for Peter Rampson's CORE 131 class at Ringling College of Art + Design, Sarasota, FL. Fall 2008.

I have an Ocean Racing & Offshore Yachts book that someone gave me and had an idea to recreate a similar book sculpture I created a few years ago. I hand colored that other book sculpture with watercolors and later wished I had let it remain the natural whites of the pages. I created this piece with sculptures cut and folded from the pages in this book. Wow! In addition to our Etsy obsession, A Reader's Respite is currently going through a book sculpture phase. This piece was created by Hubertus Gojowczyk....it's entitled Latest News from the Year 1732 and 1733. If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it. (We asked, so we know this to be true.) Still, it might be worth it to display on a shelf in Big Kid's room if only to freak him out a bit. (Parent humor....we can't get enough of it.)
