The story behind the myth. Medusa is one of the well known ‘villains’ of Greek mythology. While many know she’s a ‘monster’ that turns others to stone they don’t know how she backs this way. In some accounts of Medusas’ tale Poseidon attacked her due to her status as a high priestess to Athena. In an attempt to anger Athena he attacked Medusa in her temple taking the one thing that Athena held important to her high priestesses, Medusa’s celibacy.
