In early December when I shared how we updated our 2000’s kitchen on a budget, the item that had interested everyone and what I received the most questions about was the removal of the microwave. So the microwave removal gets its own reel. ❤️ We are a family of six and and all of us are capable in the kitchen. Having the microwave above the stove was a hindrance to anyone using the stove. Either we were ducking when the door was opened as we prepared meals, or we were moving out of the way so another family member could access to the microwave/stove. Basically, if the stove was in use, odds were the microwave was as well. We were already aware that we were going to replace the backsplash. Wood vent a hood over exhausting microwave with 100+ year old barn wood

We had trouble finding inspiration for a faux vent a hood over a true microwave vent a hood, so we created our own. Enjoy!

A wall mounted microwave above the stove in open upper cabinet shelves. I wanted to show how this turned out because I wasn't sure it would look good. Basically, I used the microwave wall mount included in the box and mounted the top through the shelf. 11.25" was literally just enough shelf to catch the top mounting screws. Hope this helps others considering something similar.
