FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Colocation data centers provide the physical and staff infrastructure needed to house a client’s servers and other IT equipment. Data center colocation hosting providers offer power, cooling, connectivity to certain carriers, physical security, and on-deck experts to assist in everything from troubleshooting to flipping a switch.
Colocation can be more accessible than the public cloud, particularly for organizations that can’t afford to run enterprise-grade infrastructure in-house. While it may incur greater up-front costs when buying new hardware and equipment, colocation typically grants clients greater control over their IT, alleviating overspend issues common with the public cloud.
When using colocation services, you own your servers and equipment while making use of a data center’s white space (racks, power, cooling, etc.). Meanwhile, dedicated hosting entails leasing servers from a service provider. phoenixNAP offers both colocation and dedicated hosting, but the services are different.
You are eligible for unescorted access to certain parts of phoenixNAP’s Phoenix facility. However, you will need to go through a one-way video checkpoint and submit a government-issued ID to receive a facility badge.
As a carrier-neutral hotel, phoenixNAP has an offering of over 40 industry-leading telecom, network, and bandwidth providers. phoenixNAP’s flagship facility in Phoenix is also one of Arizona’s only AWS Direct Connect and Google Cloud Interconnect locations. Browse this page to see all carriers across our global footprint.
Beyond colocation, phoenixNAP offers hardware leasing, pre-configured bare metal provisioned with cloud-like agility, secure-by-design cloud solutions with layered data protection, data encryption and storage services, a Network-as-a-Service solution by Megaport and best-in-business cloud Backup and Disaster Recovery options.
