Oooh, here's a thought. If you're on a Mac, you probably have a retina screen and then you're using one of the 1.5x or 2x srcset URLs (1536, 2048), but sounds like only the 1x is pre-fetched.

@Xover, just checking: do you have the high-res image function in "jump to file" turned on?

This appears to have been fixed in the update to OOUI 0.44.1: https://github.com/wikimedia/VisualEditor/commit/bc81b354e0984955225e39e9b2f196d1a682bf7a#diff-1cde34117ee25380503e642062c56d5484f57686f51dd65f17316122935a0b84R535 (it's now margin-left: -6px)

This also broke a documented (and used) feature of ProofreadPage, where the fields of an Index namespace page can be serialised as JSON.

Does this also resolve T239033?

The patch as implemented inserts at the cursor (or replaces the selection).

Adjacent issue: SVGs exported by the math markup engine do not work in some readers where SVG is nominally supported: T270589

This is stalled until the template and module exists on Commons.
@HLHJ Note that this requires at least a place to put the quote in the description. I don't really want to just stuff it into {{information}} (like the caption is currently). We desperately need a variant of {{artwork}} for illustrations, which i see you have already discovered: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Module_talk:Artwork#Entry_point_for_illustration-type_images

Paraphrasing/importing a Gerrit comment here for clarity: this is actually done by Thumbor on Wikimedia wikis, not by MediaWiki-extensions-PdfHandler

A quick and dirty comparison of the a 150dpi and 300dpi rendering of this file (p9) shows, as expected that the image quality is substantially better:

It's odd, the PDFs have them, so the data is somewhere, but no where else in the metadata I can find. So the question really is "can I get this out of the PDF sensibly before upload, or should I do it in two phases".

{{Author}] now done
These are all uploaded and indexes created (but not pagelisted)

The underlying "defect" here is T268526, which would allow to declare a non-link dependency.
@Mpaa I think this is working. Do you agree?
Jan 12 2022
I think 2126 is a little bit on the cautious side. Commons sets 150 years (i.e. 1871 right now) as their cut-off for collective works without needing to actually check (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Collective_work). I.e. they assume the chances that someone live 80 years after writing is low enough to be an acceptable risk. So that would be 1926 + 150 + 1 = 2077.
PD-old should be PD-old-expired|country=US for the US magazines, I think.
Jan 11 2022
Should be done now ^_^
Jan 9 2022
This seems to be harder than it looks, because I'm unaware of a way to add a drop-down menu to the skin tab bars like you can do in JS. So maybe it needs to be client-side JS hack :-/.
In progress for download.
@Mpaa sure, but in what environment? There is now access to the URL for both the thumbnail and full sized image via the JS config variables, so you can get it from a gadget or script right now.
Jan 7 2022
This should now have been fixed (works at enWS, at least)
This has been changed.
Now uses the prpFormattedPageNumber config value
Progress so far:
- Header
- Portal header
- Process header
Note that keyboard shortcuts for the page view in particular came with the OSD work: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Proofread_Page/Page_viewer#Keyboard_navigation

Sorry, I can't test it today, I don't have my usual setup nearby!
Jan 5 2022
@Alex_brollo I have spun it out as T298663. I have no idea if or when it might be actioned, though.
Jan 4 2022
@Alex_brollo good to hear, glad it was helpful.
First letter thing done, but not the single-caps -> lowercase merging, as that's ugly in the code and maybe won't be a major issue.

Ok, so autocapitalize=off doesn't work for some keyboards (e.g. Swiftkey), so that's fun.
WRT editing: with the matterbridge bridge (which as you found does not use any mattermost channel), if you edit in Matrix, you do get a "proper" edit in Discord (the message changes and the little (edited) appears). And in the other direction it's the same. So it sounds like the API exists and works, it's just a bridge implementation thing.
I am fiddling with this, the main question is can I figure out a way to get a pagelist from MJP? The PDFs have named pages, but I cannot see an alternative source for the data. Maybe I'll just run that as a separate task or something if I can't figure it out soon.
Uploaded and indexed up to v. 97.
Haha, yes, I figured that out (after the first one 😳). I also added the categories, formatted that authors and the volume numbers. Still easier with a spreadsheet, so thanks for getting that together!
@Billinghurst (only 7 years on) looks like it: https://en.wikisource.org/w/index.php?search=%22The+World+of+William+Clissold%22
Well, it's now relatively complete, so let's call it done and handle any other specific issues if anyone has them.
This is now working (mw.config.get("prpFormattedPageNumber"))
This is now working (note that this includes only fields marked js: true in the index data config, so that has to be set locally as needed).
This is now working.
This is now working well at enWS.
This is now working well at enWS.
They didn't "work on it", they wrote it. It is "their" code. They also specifically denied a request that would allow wikis to configure a different OCR backend instance (though there is a workaround), so there's a level of enforced ownership just in that attitude.

Also I don't know what happens with threads, but AFAICT no one uses them in the Wikisource Discord or Matrix channels anyway.
And just removing the project doesn't count, there should be a public notice about who is responsible for this code then.
I have done enough of CommTechs homework.
Sure: can we progress this. It's been months and months.
Jan 2 2022
Hello?
Dec 29 2021
It's a simple Matterbridge bridge, with most of the Kubernetes deployment stolen from wm-bb, nothing fancy other than multiplexing a bunch of Discord rooms all into the general Matrix Wikisource channel (offtopic is also bridged, but to Wikisource-offtopic).
Dec 23 2021
OK, must just be the occasional one without it. Am I OK to keep the upload going, or should I wait? It's quite painful to manually shift things around later compared to just adjusting the spreadsheet.
Oh yeah, one more thing: do you know if the SIM collection includes indexes or ToCs? They might be entirely separate records since presumably you'd want them on a dedicated reel for searching?
OK, please stand clear of the doors! The good thing about this is it's nearly all IA-based, so it can run in parallel to Lippincotts (which is HT-based) without causing rate limit issues on either side.
OK, does this look like it makes sense? https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Index:The_Smart_Set_(Volume_49,_Number_2).djvu (I used number, not issue because there were existing files and also that's whats actually written on the cover).
