Simple terms for academic use: use PhDs.io for research and education, be respectful, and follow the basic guidelines below.
Using PhDs.io
PhDs.io is a free academic search platform for research and educational purposes. By accessing it you agree to these terms; if we update them, continued use means you accept the updated version.
What you can do
- Search and read paper metadata and abstracts for your research.
- Create an account, build reading lists, and share public lists.
- Use the documented API and MCP endpoints within the published rate guidance (~1 request/second).
- Cite what you find — please credit phds.io and the paper's DOI.
What you cannot do
- Bulk-scrape outside the documented machine endpoints, or ignore the rate guidance.
- Attempt unauthorised access to accounts or systems.
- Resell or redistribute the collection, or use it commercially without permission.
- Use the service for unlawful activity.
Accounts
Keep your credentials secure, use a valid email, and one account per person. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. Accounts that violate these terms may be suspended.
Service availability
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties. Interruptions can happen, and we accept no liability for damages arising from use or unavailability. Bibliographic metadata is displayed under the licenses that permit its use; it remains the property of its publishers and authors.
