200,000 SF, Complete Renovation
Completed Summer 2016

Originally designed in the late 1960s and constructed in 1970 this ten story building was designed as a surgical center with a tower housing hundreds of recovery rooms. A panelized facade with deeply recessed windows and an aggregate coating is beautifully brutalist. A complete gut remodel exposes the rational steel grid of the building. Two new staircases connect the first and second floors and improve circulation. A new glass curtain wall and skylight allow natural light to flood into newly created double-height entry. Polished concrete floors help to blur the transition between inside and outside. Thoughtful space planning creates wide boulevards that allow for social circulation making getting to class a pleasure.
