Frequently asked questions

How do credits work?
Credits are indexing capacity: one hour of audio or video costs 20 credits, and $1 buys 10 credits — the same $2 per content-hour, expressed as points. On monthly billing you get a fresh grant every month: 240 credits on Pro (≈ 12 hrs), 800 on Studio (≈ 40 hrs). On annual billing you get a bigger pool — 3,600 on Pro (≈ 180 hrs), 12,000 on Studio (≈ 600 hrs) — granted in one lump on day one. Credits are fungible: one-time historical backfill, ongoing new-episode indexing, and re-indexing all draw from the same pool, and future features will meter on it too.
Why is annual the natural way to start?
Three reasons. You get 2 months free. You get 25% more credits than twelve monthly grants — 3,600 instead of 2,880 on Pro, 12,000 instead of 9,600 on Studio. And the whole pool lands on day one, sized so you can point it straight at your back catalog and clear it immediately. On monthly billing, credits arrive month by month, so a large backfill means topping up instead.
What does Studio add over Pro?
Capacity first: unlimited Channels sharing one credit pool, and more than three times the credits of Pro — enough to run a slate of shows rather than one podcast. Then the layer on top: white-label (your library and MCP endpoint carry only your brand), AI clips in every platform format instead of vertical-only and catalog-wide audience insights as they roll out, and priority support.
How many podcasts can I run on one plan?
Free and Pro include one Channel. Studio is built for a slate: connect as many Channels as you run, all funded by the one credit pool on your account. Your public libraries stay up no matter what — a downgrade never takes a page offline.
What happens when I hit the Free tier cap?
Free includes 200 credits (≈ 10 hours of indexing) over the lifetime of the account. At the cap your account goes read-only — you keep and can still search everything you have indexed; you just can’t index more until you upgrade.
What happens when my credits run out?
Indexing pauses — nothing is ever billed behind your back. Top up whenever you like at $1 = 10 credits (packs of 200, 500, or 1,000): purchased credits never expire, while plan credits reset with each term. Everything you have already indexed stays live and searchable either way. AI clip rendering is the exception: it’s a separate usage-based add-on, coming soon.
Is analytics included, or an add-on?
Included — Access Analytics ships on every plan, Free included. It measures discovery: visits to your public library, the links, campaigns, and AI answers that sent them, and the questions AI agents ask your catalog over MCP. Comment insights (Pro and Studio) add what your audience says on top.
Is this just a transcription tool?
No. Transcription is one input. PodHood is discoverability infrastructure: it turns each episode into a structured knowledge graph and publishes it so your catalog can be found by people, cited by answer engines, and queried by AI agents over MCP.
What’s the difference between custom domain and white-label?
A custom domain (included on every plan) hosts your library at your own address while keeping PodHood branding. White-label (Studio) goes further — it removes PodHood’s identity from the library and MCP endpoint on that domain.
