Love in the Air

Hello friends! Get ready for some major cuteness because these little Valentine mice are the Not 2 Shabby December Stamp of the Month.

I made these little charmers the star of the show with a subtle blended background of Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers oxide inks then accented with white splatter. I stamped the mice onto the background, and then colored a second set (stamped on Bristol paper) using Karin markers and a waterbrush. I added a few highlights with watercolor pencils for extra detail.

To finish, I fussy cut the mice and their hearts, then popped up their heads using dimensional foam for a sweet paper tole effect! Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic day!

Love Cats

Hi crafty friends! Today I'm popping in with a little Valentine's duo created with the Love Cats paper and ephemera from Not 2 Shabby. I've been trying to be a bit more mindful about what products I purchase for crafting, since 30 years of collecting gets you a whole mountain of supplies. So when this collection released last month, I initially resisted purchasing since I have lots of Valentines products already. But as the month progressed and I saw so many darling cards being created, my FOMO got the better of me and I had to have it,. In return I promised myself I would at least make two cards with it before the season was over.

You know what? I had SO much fun crafting with these kitties and am so glad I purchased them! They really are adorable, and since we're a two cat home and hubby's birthday and Valentine's day are this month, I figured I could make both a birthday card and a Valentine's Day card for him.

For this first card, I picked a couple of sheets from the Love Cats paper pack that I wanted to use, then cut a background piece from one and a big stitched heart from the other. I pulled in the solo boy cat, the envelope and the sentiment from the Love Cats Ephemera.  I wanted a bit bigger of a heart for the sentiment, so fussy cut one of the hearts from the ephemera, then coated with glossy accents and glitter before adding over the original heart.  I chose some gray mats to frame my pieces and finished with a little glossy accents on his eyes and nose.

For the next card, I arranged some of the pieces I had left over from the other card and glued them together for the same sized background.  I accented the seam with a Love from Lizi peel off sticker. I then cut a rectangle to ground my ephemera collage and embossed with gold card stock.  I picked a few pieces of ephemera to create the focal point, embossing the XOXO sentiment from the Mini Messages set that was only available in the Festive Christmas bundle directly onto one of the hearts.

I love how these turned out and I know my hubby will love them too. Because cats. {grin}

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulously creative day. It's a long weekend here and all my boys are home, so should be a super fun day.

Big Heart Hello

Hi friends! Today I'm playing along with some friends on Instagram for the #thisorthat hop. This week's theme to choose between is big or small.

I immediately thought I'd go big and use an unused gem in my stash, the Erin Lee Creative Super Jumbo Word + Outlines Dies. I love the dies, but wasn't feeling like it was Super Jumbo enough, so anchored it with a huge Spellbinders Scalloped Heart from the beginning days of die cutting. The heart only fits on an A2 landscape base, but I decided to go portrait and have my heart hang over the edges.

I'm playing along with Danni's Use Your Stash themes this month for her This & That with Danni's Dreams Facebook Group.  On this card I shopped my stash for the big heart dies, the Reverse Confetti heart paper, a falling hearts embossing folder, and heart rhinestones.  I added a bit of pink lemonade blending to the dry embossed panel, then added pink, black, and white splatters.

I added a small little Seasonal Chit Chat sticker with the xoxo. I felt like the contrast between its size and the size of the die cut sentiment really played to the big or small theme.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulously creative day.

Watercolor Bloom with Grace

Hello friends! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. We had good food and good times with family and now my craft room is overflowing with many new goodies! I can’t wait to try them all. It’s sure to be a fun filled crafty new year.

Today I’m sharing a card I made with the December Stamp of the Month from Not 2 Shabby. These rose images made me want to watercolor so I pulled out my Gansai Tambi palette and got to work.

I started out with a panel of Distress Watercolor paper and I stamped the rose images randomly around the panel with Versafine Clair black ink. Once that was dry, I went in with a wash of a light brown in all the white space around the flowers. I then watercolored the flowers, then stamped the Adore sentiment in the open spaces for some texture.

I had originally planned to cut the background in strips and use them on separate cards, but after I cut them I changed my mind. So I inked around all the wedges and then realigned two of the strips together to form the background.

Next I pulled out more Distress watercolor paper and stamped the focal flower and sentiment. These were both cut with coordinating dies and then watercolored in the same manner with a brown wash in all the white spaces.  I added a panel of Sweet Valentine paper that I sponged with distress inks as a backdrop, then finished with some Kraft matting. My final accents were lots of splatter and a few flat back pearls from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you are inspired to go get crafty.

Pretty Paper, Pretty Stamps: A Shabby Chic Card Duo

Hi friends! Today I'm popping in with a bit of inspiration featuring the Not 2 Shabby shop December stamp of the month, Always & Forever. It's no secret that I love the shabby/vintage style so these Sweet Valentine papers from the December paper pad club have had me taking a break from Christmas crafting to something on the sweeter side.

Whenever I get a holiday specific set, I always try to make a non-holiday card with it, so that was the inspiration for this first card.  The layout started how so many of my cards do.... arranging scraps of paper left over from my last crafty session!  I loved these three skinny strips together, so added a fishtail end to the bottoms, inked up the edges and then layered under another scrap of paper.

The flower image is from the beautiful Always & Forever set and I colored with Copic markers in a peachy pink combo.  I used the coordinating dies to cut both the floral image and the sentiment to complete the collage of elements.  To finish off, I ran the front of my card base through the die cut machine with a rose embossing folder for a subtle bit of texture.

For my second card, I fully embraced the Valentine's Day spirit, layering scraps of the Sweet Valentine paper in a pleasing layout and then backing with a panel of light pink cardstock embossed with a heart embossing folder. I colored up the flower in the same colors, then added a Happy Valentine's Day sentiment and some sparkly enamel dots to finish things off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulous start to your weekend. It's my 27th wedding anniversary today, so we're headed to one of my favorite local restaurants for dinner.

Heartfelt Loaded Tag for Valentine's Day

Do you ever have a project in mind that you just can't get out of your head? A few weeks ago I watched a video from Cathy's Garden on YouTube sharing her formula for creating stuffed pockets. I love little tags and such and just couldn't stop thinking about how her idea would look as a Valentine project. Enter the gorgeous new Sweet Valentine papers and ephemera from Not 2 Shabby! As soon as I got them in my crafty little hands it was off to the races! 😁

I started out making the main pocket. I knew I wanted my back tag to be a full 6" tall and I wanted all the main pieces to be from my 6x6 patterned paper, so I tweaked the pocket just a bit.

To create the pocket, I started with two 4.5" squares of the Sweet Valentine paper. Next I punched a half circle out of the top center of the front panel and inked up the edges of both panels for a vintage look. inked up the edges, and then adhered together on three sides with double sided tape and a little liquid adhesive.

For the main tag I cut the paper to 3.75" x 6", then hand trimmed the angled edges on top. If you're not exact with the angles it's totally fine. You can cover it up with your ephemera or stamped images! To decorate the tag, I collaged a few pieces of the gorgeous Sweet Valenine Ephemera together, then covered the bottom edge with some ruffled ribbon from my stash.  The XOXO letters are cut with the Emily's Alphabet Die Set from brown paper bag cardstock, then inked with distress ink and accented with some pearl Nuvo drops.  I added a heart scallop border from my stash up top for some contrast and popped the balloon ephemera up on dimensional foam to finish the tag off.

I used Cathy's technique of glueing the pieces of ephemera and a sentiment banner together first, then only attaching on the right and left sides so I could stuff more tags in the pocket. The sentiment is from the December Stamp of the Month, Always & Forever.

Next I got to my favorite part... creating little tags. I cut the two larger tags with dies from my stash, modifiying their heights just a bit by partially die cutting the bottom edges. One uses a sentiment diecut I had in my leftovers pile from last year's valentines. The second one uses the adorable cupcake ephemera from the pack, popped up on dimensionals.  I added a bit of ink blending to all the edges then added some seam binding and twine to the tops.

I had a paper scrap left over that was about 1.25" by 4", so decided to make it into a skinny tag. I rounded one edge with a die, then rounded the corners of the other end. The special definition block  is a printable I got from Etsy, printed and then added to the tag to finish things off.

Once all my pieces were done, it was just a matter of tucking them into the base pocket. I absolutely loved how quickly this came together and am so happy with how it turned out. Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you've been inspired and have a wonderful day!

Rustic Valentine with a Pop of Pink

I couldn't contain my excitement when I unwrapped this month's Paper Pad Club and Stamp/Die of the month goodies! These vintage-inspired Valentine's Day treasures have stolen my heart. Get ready to be inspired.

Today, I'm sharing how to create this stunning shabby-chic Valentine's Day card. I just love the beautiful combination of the Plaids for Valentines and Sweet Valentine papers!  In the video l create a charming tag, a gorgeous floral image, and a lovely background that will leave the recipient swooning. Watch on the blog below or on my YouTube channel.

I brought this gorgeous floral image from the Sweet Valentine set to life with Copic markers and white gel pen accents. I added a touch of dimension by die-cutting the image and blending in some ink to soften the edges on all my panels.

I love to add a touch of vintage charm to cards with a sentiment tag. For the topper, I stamped the floral image onto kraft cardstock and added a touch of ink for a distressed look. Then I finished the card off with a heart-shaped hole reinforcer, a sweet sentiment, and a bit of twine.

But wait, there's more! I created a second coordinating card with a swapped layout and a sweet sentiment. This card features a primitive heart die-cut from the typewriter patterned paper, adding a touch of whimsy to the design. I love how it plays on the "Our love story is my favorite" theme.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you'll take a moment to pop on over to YouTube to check out the hop and all the amazing inspiration my teamies are sharing today!

Be My Gnomie

Hi friends! It's my day to share a little inspiration over on the Jaded Blossom blog. They just received a large restock of products. One of my favorite stamp sets is back in stock, so I just had to whip up a little card featuring the darling Gnome Kisses set.

I pulled out some favorite patterns from the Snow Much Fun paper pad (also restocked) and used it to inspire my color palette, coloring up the image with Copic markers.  I kept the layout pretty simple, using two Diamond Die  cuts butted up next to each other for the diagonal strip.

I added a few hearts from the Snow Puffy Icon Stickers scattered around my stamped and colored image, then finished off with a sentiment banner below. Isn't that gnomie jus the cutest?

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulous day!

Latte Love and a Gift Card Holder Video Tutorial

Hi friends! Today I'm participating in an inspiration hop over on YouTube with some of my fellow Not 2 Shabby design team members. We're all sharing projects with some of our favorite Not 2 Shabby products.

It's probably no surprise that I picked a coffee collection! I love coffee and I love to create Valentine projects, so the Lattes of Love paper pad, Lattes of Love ephemera, and Love for Lattes stamp set were my first choice.

In my video I share a couple of cards I created with these products and then create a fun little valentine gift card holder with one sheet of 6 x 6 patterned paper. You can watch the video below, or head over to my YouTube channel and hop along.

This gift card holder is super quick and easy. It's based on a standard coin envelope design, but I've adapted it to perfectly fit a gift card, with just a little wiggle room to get the card in and out. You could easily change up the measurements to fit different types of candy, etc.

Start by scoring a piece of 6" x 6" piece of paper at 1.75" and 4.5". Then rotate your paper 90 degrees and score at 1.5" and 5.25". Burnish the fold lines and cut away the pieces marked on the template below.

With the side that you want to be the outside of the envelope facing away from you, fold down the top center flap and adhere. Next fold in the left side toward center and then adhere the right side to the left side panel. Fold up the bottom panel and adhere to form the bottom back side of the envelope. Flip project over and fold the remaining flap down over the front.

I used Velcro as a closure, but there are lots of other options you could use such as punching a hole and tying with string, clipping with a paperclip or clothespin, or removable adhesive, Embellish as desired, and make someone's day with a sweet gift.

Alright, let's move on to the cards I shared. This first card uses sketch #3 from Kendra's Card Challenge 13. I loved the large area intended for building a scene, so I collaged a bunch of Lattes of Love ephemera pieces and layered some coordinating papers. I changed the measurements just a skosh to fit my needs, then accented with glossy glaze, glitter, and some gold metallic paint pen accents.

The second card was my way of using up a bunch of scraps on my desk. I simply taped the scraps I had together (using double sided adhesive on the back side, then cut down to a 5.25" square.  I used some Love from Lizi pinstripe peel offs to cover the seams, then added a square of paper where the panels met. I finished off with some ephemera and gold matting for a 5.5" square card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic day! If you have a little time, I'd love it if you'd check out the hop!

Gnome One Like You

Hi friends! It's my day to share a little inspiration over on the Jaded Blossom blog. Today I've got a little shaker valentine's card I created with the My Gnomie stamp set and the Rectangle Dies and Scallop Rectangle Dies.

I love this little image and sentiment stamp from the My Gnomie set, and thought it would make a great shaker card. I stamped the main stamp and the coordinating gnomie onto white cardstock, then colored with Copic markers. I cut the extra gnome image with the coordinating My Gnomie Outline Dies and then glued over the image. I also stamped the little circle "you" letters in red and fussy cut to add a little extra interest.

The shaker portion is created with a mix of the Rectangle Dies 1 and 2 and the Scallop Rectangle Dies.  I added a custom mix of sequins from my stash, then finished off with a card mat layer that was dry embossed with a heart embossing folder.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic day!

Jaded Blossom January 2024 Release Hop

Hey Everyone! Welcome to Jaded Blossom's January Stamp Release Blog Hop.
If you're here from Lee-Ann you're in the right place. If you're just passing through start at the beginning because you don't want to miss a thing. The complete hop list can be found later in this post.

I love the new Gnome Dies: Breakfast Add ons! They are so fun, and I just couldn't stop putting sprinkles on everything! For this card, I created the donut from sno cone paper and the P13 skin tones pad, adding a bit of inking around the edges with brushed corduroy distress oxide. The Gnome Dies beard and mustache were cut from dark gray cardstock, and I accented with some Ohuhu cool gray markers.

I gave my sweet little gnomie a matching hat to his donut and couldn't resist adding sprinkles to it, too!
For the ripe raspberry panel, I pulled out the stencil from the Coffee Mug Stencil that had the hearts and straws and stenciled tone on tone onto the panel. I thought the straws could pass for sprinkles. I added an XOXO die cut with the Build a Booth: Alphabet Add Ons, coated it with glossy accents, and then sprinkled glitter on it while it was still wet, for some diy stickles.

The sentiment is from the Sweet Treats set and embossed onto a Stitched Circle and matted with a Scallop Circle. I also used the Rectangle Dies 1 and Scallop Rectangle Dies 1, as well as the Card Mat Dies for the rest of the card. My final touch was a little glaze pen on the stprinkles, some white gel pen accents, and some heart stickers scattered throughout.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic day! Don't forget to check out all the fun new stuff in the shop!
