Buck Owens - Waitin' In Your Welfare LIne

Yesterday's post had the most views I have had in awhile. So, what do I do for an encore....I bring it back down to reality..lol...yep, shoot myself in the foot with some country music.Not sure how politically correct this one plays these days but it is classic country- it was his 10th #1 Country 45 for 7 weeks and even made #57 on the pop charts. I found this one this weekend when I was going through some boxes of 45s that I bought from the record store that closed in 1972. I believe I have written how my parents and grandfather listened to country music when I was growing up. I remember them listening to Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, watching Hee Haw. Growing up I really didn't like country music but over the years old country has really grown on me, especially Buck Owens- love his best of albums. I am including a youtube video of this song being played live and was glad to finally get a copy.

I remember this song from when I was a young pup. This is a very hard to find Picture Sleeve which I was lucky to score this last year.A bnce promo copy and I found a stock copy of the 45 in all those promo radio station 45s but, I don't know where I put it.

I burned up the highway with a quick road trip to Florida this week to deal with family - left Wednesday and returned Friday. I still managed to make a few pit stops for a brief "stretch the legs look for records" but it was pathetic pickings. But I really don't need anything else right now considering I am still going through the boxes of 45's I bought. Tonight's offering is another from the Radio Station find. There are more country 45's in the bunch than I would like but this IS one that I like. Early Buck [1956] but this is a reissue from 1960 I believe

Buck Owens - Close Up The Honky Tonk (Early Version)

One of the 45's I so wanted badly on RSD this year was the Buck Owen's 45. I thought I would easily be able to pick it up and it turned out to be the most difficult item for me to find (other than the Big Star reissue, which I still do not have). I have been on a Buck Owens kick lately. Over the past month, I have found at least 6 of his albums at yard sales, not to mention I have picked up about 5 or 6 original Capitol 45's with picture sleeves. And of course this reissue on yellow vinyl and limited to 1300 copies. If my parents pay attention to my postings will laugh their tails off that I have developed a fondness for old timey country
