Back home

Just a simple pack of seeds, but I have had so much trouble obtaining these, can't get them or any plants locally, I have a tall pot in the middle back of my herb garden, and I want it full of these daisies. I finally got these on line, after first checking they came in this packet and not sent from China.
We have new growth on our passion flower, these are tough fast growing plants, we have a couple of months for it to grow, which should allow a few flowers next year, flowers grow on second year and older stems. The clematis is still dormant, I will leave it until next spring, give it a chance to come back.
Hubby having the best of times.
Blackberries in July.
I have done loads of reading, I did not read The Infirmary, it was a prequel to another murder, and I don't enjoy when story lines go out of sequence, this makes 55 books read this year. I am not going to read anymore of these books.
We had a brilliant couple of days in Somerset, seeing both Logan and Finn, mummy and daddy was great, we did keep our distance, but might have had a quick cuddle, our boys have grown so much. We spent one day with my brother, sister  and her partner, outside in my sisters lovely garden most of the day, chatting, doing normal things, later we popped to the village pub for a burger, again sat outside, social distancing is so normal to us now. The last day we drove to Castle Combe race circuit, where hubby drove an e type Jag, it was a birthday gift from his children, his birthday was last September, he loved driving this iconic car.
I found the few days away very uplifting, as I have said before simple normal things make me happy.
Last night I gave the garden a good watering, this morning we have picked more tomatoes, there is a cucumber which will be ready for  the weekend, we have started to pick ripe blackberries in July, as a child we always had blackberries in September.

Weekend stiches

The Palace Guard is coming along well, we were away for the weekend and I took it with me, it's a perfect size for traveling. I was able to stitch Friday night and yesterday. I am pleased with the look so far, one small problem with this kit, the silks are all cut to lengths, and I have run out of three colours, lucky my silk drawer is full and I have been able to finish every thing so far.

We had a good time in Somerset, Kev's son Stephen, Nic his wife and baby Logan were all doing well, after cuddling Sam who is 11 weeks old today, Logan at one week was so very small, but oh so beautiful, it's great to see another little family doing well. We went out with my brother on Saturday night, it was his birthday and I try and get back for celebrations, we popped to the village pub, and had fun.
Yesterday is was Fliss's birthday, so we popped around for coffee and birthday cake, they had been shopping in Winchester, this having the nearest Kath Kidson shop, Fliss loves all her stuff. Josh had all his Thunderbirds things out and was playing, and I got my cuddle with Sam.

Home sweet home

On Thursday we drove to Somerset, to stay with my brother, he still lives in the village where I grew up. Friday we drove to south Wales for the day to visit Kev's sister, who still lives in the town where Kev grew up.

Friday was a damp day, I wanted to get some photo's of the mountains with the low cloud, but this is the only decent photo I got, just after we arrived it started to rain heavy and did not stop. The rain in Wales around the mountains is often heavy, and if there is snow we always make a dash for the road before the snow settles. We had a great day catching up with family and friends.

Through the centre of the village flows this little stream, when I was growing up, this was a focal point for the local children, we used to paddle, fish and have loads of fun here. They have widened the flow of the stream, so the water is not as deep as I remember. We had great picnics on the grass here, it was always a sunny place.

Su brought her mum a present, and I love it, I have placed it on my key ring.
Kev has almost finished painting the office, my desk is in the middle of the room, Kev is playing golf this morning. We hope to put the new window blinds up today and look at cutting the bench to fit. My dolls house has been moved, later I will tidy it and rebuild the basement and gardens. We took so much out of this room and I want to sort and get rid of some of it, I would like it to look less cluttered than before.

Good days

Yesterday was fantastic, I am feeling well and getting excited with Su and Gav's wedding next weekend. I popped to the hairdresser and had my wig cut, results later, I popped in to see Fliss and Joshy, did some baking, all in all a good day.

I even did some stitching, most of the work I have done is the white background, every part of this cushion is being stitched, I am at 74 squares with 26 left, I think I know what the last two patterns are, and can't wait to get to them. Click on the photo to see the detail.
I also spend an hour looking at books, showing the village Cannington in Somerset, where I grew up, below is how I remember it as a child, I spent lazy sunny days, fishing with nets in the brook. The countryside in Somerset in the late 60's was stunning. Click on the village name to see more.

I was so pleased tucked in the book was this book mark I made.

In a second book I found this photo, it is my mum's brother George, mum used to tell us of how she would help him prepare the horses manes with ribbons on special days, my uncle's were farmers, Uncle John once gave us a piglet when we were younger, I remember it we all got excited, but mum would not allow us to keep it in the garden so it had to live on the farm.

Our local Town Bridgwater, has a carnival each November, as does many towns in the area, Bridgwater is classed as the top venue, my sister Leanna brought this book for me for christmas, and the photo above is in it. Click on the word carnival to see the official website it is amazing.

I wanted to show you my new hair style, I am so very pleased, it looks like me again.

Yesterday I also baked Veggie Lasagna, which is a favorite dish of mine, with Su and Gav coming to tea I was able to bake a large one, the main problem I have with this dish is Kev is allergic to cheese and therefore can not eat it, well yesterday I made him a separate dish without cheese and he loved it, so the forward plan is to make it without cheese, once cooked I can add mozzarella cheese to mine and grill.

I am now waiting for Fliss and Joshy to pop in, then I can go to my other blog, Somerset House and have Joshy choose the winner of my giveaway. Also today my niece Tracy, hubby Taylor and baby Riley are popping in.

Weston Super mare

On Sunday we went back to Weston-Super-Mare

They have a wheel like the London eye there for a few weeks,
and here are photo's taken whilst on the ride.
the beach is huge!
and golden sands

This building is the bus stops,
new for us
can't make my mind up, if I like it or not

Donkeys on the beach

The black clouds did not last for long
looking toward Brean Down

The island is steep Holm, there is a second called flat Holm

The front looks very good,
The pier burnt down last year and it is being repaired,
there is nothing sadder that a damaged pier.

Sunny Somerset

As I lay in bed this morning, thinking of what I would muse on today, the sunshine lit my bay window. Kev is playing a game of golf, its not raining and the sun is out, to my surprise when I opened the curtains, we have fog! not the heavy moist type we have in the winter months, today it's the light fog which promises to burn off into a nice sunny day.

So fingers crossed

We spent two days in a wonderful old manor house, I'm not sure when it was built, but it had extensions added in 1740 to bring it to the house as it is today. I love old buildings, this one is well cared for and even as it has been brought into the 21st century, but it still holds its charm well. We were at St Audries, which nestles in the countryside between Watchet and Bridgwater, it's very near the coast, Watchet has a small harbour.

We viewed wild deer in the grounds, and watched the rabbits on the edge of the woodlands.
We were sharing the weekend with 60 other people at a family wedding, the house with countless rooms and nooks and staircase's allowed us to be together and in small groups.

Back at home now planning my day, I spent time last night with a new cross stitch patchwork, I am designing it as I sew, I have a few thoughts but the size and shape will be decided whilst I am stitching. Once it begins to look like something I will show you.

I have more seeds to plant today and I want Kev to move a couple of shrubs, two to another garden and one from a pot into the garden. My daffodils have gone, but the garden is full of buds and promise.
We live very close to Fareham town centre, I will wander up soon, it's market day.
