Here’s what you need to know!

🌸Plant them in a location that receives at least 6-8 hours of full sun in well-draining soil. And it’s always a good idea to amend your soil with compost and other organic matter before you plant. The optimal time for planting the bearded iris rhizomes are in late summer/early fall.

🌸Dig a shallow hole, around 4 inches deep.

🌸Create a small mound of soil in the center of the hole.

Bearded iris blooms can sometimes be so lush and heavy that they need a bit of extra support. For taller, heavier flowers, I often use grow-through plant supports with a grid that holds them up nicely. If I don’t get to it in time, half-moon garden stakes are my go-to—they’re super easy to slip in and work just as well!🌸

With bearded irises, I usually stick with half-moon supports since these plants typically stand tall on their own. But in case of rough weather or strong winds, when they might start leaning or even toppling over, I quickly add a half-moon stake.
