Simple and easy to do using 4 basic tools:
Dap Plastic Wood-X
Water
Putty knife
Sander

This method is perfect for filling open grain when you’re needing a perfectly smooth, grain free surface. 

1) Mix your Dap Plastic Wood-X with a bit of water and mix to a consistency like that of mayonnaise. 

2.) apply a skim coat to your surface using a putty knife going across the grain to fill in the open pores

3) allow to dry (turns beige when completely dry)

4) sand with 220 grit removing the excess filler 

5) prime and paint!
