Shiny-Brite ornaments are a perfect example of Mid-Century Christmas decorations. The great ad, above, is from 1966. These ornaments date back a little earlier, though. The first Shiny-Brite ornaments were made in 1937 by Max Eckhardt. He worked with the Corning Glass Company to produce them. These ornaments were originally sold at Woolworth dime stores. The Shiny Brite company produced the most popular ornaments in American throughout the 1940s and 50s. These glass ornament reproductions make available the lovely colors and patterns from those memorable days. In 2001 Christopher Radko, world renowned producer of fine hand painted ornaments, began reproducing Shiny Brite ornaments. They are even packaged in a vintage styled box. For many of us, they immediately evoke treasured memories of Christmases spent with family and friends.
