a wooden ornament with a christmas tree on it hanging from a red ribbon

Hi Everyone! Today I have a quick craft you can do to commemorate your Christmas trees. If you get a real tree, most places will cut a slice off of the bottom for you. Save this piece and you can turn it into a memorable decoration. Start with your plain Christmas tree slice. Clean it off the best you can and sand any rough spots. Use a wood-burner to add the year and any other decoration or message you want. I added simple little illustrations on mine. Next, use acrylic paint to fill in any…

christmas ornaments hanging from a tree with pictures on them

A cute idea we came up with to commemorate our Christmas tree and family for each year. Just cut off part of the tree trunk before you set it up, drill a hole for a ribbon, take a current family picture and mod podge it on with the date on the back. These are my favorite ornaments on the tree!

Cut and save a round from your Christmas tree trunk, drill a hole and add a tag (or use the one that came with your tree) with the year. Hang on your tree and now you have a Christmas tree keepsake ornament! Continue this tradition for years to come! <3 Victoria

christmas tree trunk ornaments are hanging from the branches

I finally made ornaments from the slices of Christmas tree trunks I have saved over the last 2 years. I only wish I had saved them over the last 10 years! I saw this idea in a 2011 Better Homes and Gardens magazine and thought it would be a perfect way to remember our traditional trips to the North Carolina mountain tree farms to pick our tree each year. I noted a few memorable occasions from the year on the back of each ornament as well.

an ornament made from each christmas tree is hanging on a wooden wall with the words our first tree 2011

Brock Jones Art on Instagram: "While we have MANY traditions in our house, this one is the one I’m most proud of. Luckily, I came up with it our first Christmas living together. We cut a portion of the stump from each🎄we cut ourselves (also a family tradition) and I decorate it to hang on the #christmastree *note - 2014, the year we got married, we moved from our condo 6 days after Christmas and were all boxed up, so we only had a painter’s tape Christmas tree on the wall!"

three small vases with plants in them on a white counter top next to each other

Do you know the story behind Christmas trees? Have you ever wondered why we decorate these lovely firs this time of year? Well I was clueless, so I did a little investigating and found out that the trees and the lights symbolize Christ. Pretty cool huh? According to Yahoo Answers: The evergreen fir tree is a sign of hope throughout the winter season--hope in the promise that the rest of nature too will awaken to new life in the coming spring. The message of this symbolism was simple: through…
