The rivalry...See moreKing Kalana's daughter Lihula is greatly loved by young chief Makapa, whose mother is a witch-doctor whose consuming ambition is for her son to wed Lihula. Rival witch-doctor Poloka has planned for his son Lono to marry Lihula. The rivalry between the two lovers, however, comes to an unexpected issue when the King's son meets with an accident and is injured. Poloka brings all the sorcery at his command into play and fails to heal the injured man. Makapa's mother then tries her hand and cures the prince. As a reward for her services King Kalana gives his daughter to Makapa. Poloka becomes enraged at his son's rejection and with his son desert his tribe and joins the band of a rebel chief. Thus allied with a powerful tribe Poloka and his son Lono return to their own island, and steal Lihula now the wife of Makapa. As soon as Makapa learns of his young wife's abduction, he summons all his men and prepares for war. Through her black art, Makapa's mother learns of Lihula's whereabouts. Makapa's warriors land on the rebel chief's island and a war of extermination begins. Makapa and Lono engage in a fierce duel with the primitive weapons used by the Polynesians. Makapa slays Lono and carries his young wife back to her people. Written by
