While doing so, Frances comes into the office and he is at once smitten. He tries to get acquainted, whereupon she slaps his face and leaves, forgetting her purse. Bobby grabs it and starts after her but she is indignant and jumps into her car and away. Meanwhile the proprietor of the place runs out and tells a couple of cops that Bobby is running off with a lady's purse. They start chasing him, and after many narrow escapes from onrushing cars and whatnots, Bobby finds refuge in a parked truck containing theatrical costumes. The cops are on the outside marveling at his sudden disappearance and he sees that it will be impossible for him to get out unobserved. A bright idea strikes him (and nearly knocks him down) as he catches sight of a complete Buster Brown suit with wig to match. He dons the same, puts his own suit in a box, and thusly gets by the cops and childishly skips across the street into the comedy to play the arms of a burly truant officer, who insists upon Bobby's returning to school. Bobby tries to evade him and and nearly does so on the school playground but after seeing that the teacher is none other than the girl whose purse he has, he consents to go into school. There his pranks upset the entire school routine and the teacher finally sends him out in the cloakroom. He tries to sneak out the other door but the truant officer is about so after taking one of the officer's cigars, he sits down and calmly smokes in the cloakroom. The smoke from the cigar reaches the classroom and the fire alarm is turned in. Eddie, the truant officer, gets the hose and tries to turn the water on but is unsuccessful. In the meantime, Frances finds the cause of the smoke and angrily sends Bobby to Eddie. Bobby has the hose in his hands and while talking to Eddie, the water is turned on and Eddie is drenched. Bobby escapes, puts on his own suit over the kid outfit, leaves the school and again meets Frances returning home. He follows her to return the purse. Her dad, one of the cops who chased Bobby, sees him and starts after him again. Bobby slips off the suit and is again a little boy, explaining to the father that he is there taking a private lesson. In the meantime, Eddie dashes in after Bobby so Bobby has to put on his own suit in a hurry. When the father comes on the scene again Bobby has to evade the truant officer, put on the wig and be a kid again. This goes on for sometime with Bob making lightning changes until finally he gets a chance to see Frances alone for a minute and give her the purse.
