S.E.M is one of the 16 idol units of 315 Production. The unit is a trio consisting of former school teachers Michio Hazama, Rui Maita, and Jiro Yamashita.

History

S.E.M. was scouted by the Producer while at one of their many auditions. They failed many auditions before this. Their leader, Michio, wanted to form an idol group to convey the passion of learning, while also making his students smile. He realized this after Rui invited Jupiter to perform at their school's cultural festival. He then recruited Jiro and Rui and began auditioning to become idols.

• S.E.M stands for Science, English, and Mathematics, which are the subjects the unit taught.
• Two of this unit's voice actors, Kento Itou and Yoshiki Nakajima also formed a real-life band named UMake.
• In THE iDOLM@STER POPLINKS, all idols of this unit shared the Rainbow attribute.
• They are also the second unit after Positive Passion to collaborate with Nissin Curry Meshi.
