Why do wild carnivores need protection?
Wild carnivores are among the most heavily persecuted species in the United States, despite their critical role in our ecosystems. The aftermath of the centuries-long “war on wild carnivores,” along with misconceptions and unjust policies, have created a world in which the recovery of keystone species is threatened, ecological health is diminished, and the wellbeing of wild lives is impeded.
COEXIST
Why do we need to coexist with wild carnivores?
Too often, the response to conflicts with wild carnivores is lethal, indiscriminate, and not supported by the best available science. To replace ineffective and shortsighted lethal killing, a science-based model rooted in compassionate coexistence is necessary, where humans and wildlife learn to co-adapt and share landscapes.

Why do we believe in inspiring appreciation for wild carnivores?
Unjust and unscientific persecution of wild carnivores is often perpetuated through storytelling, folklore, and ill-conceived rhetoric. It is essential to provide new audiences and generations with science-based information and inspire compassionate coexistence with wild carnivores to dispel the misconceptions that have persisted for generations.
