One-of-a-Kind Vintage Quilt Poncho

One-of-a-kind up-cycled quilt Poncho made from a vintage 1940-50's hand-quilted quilt. It features a large patch pocket on the front, a hood, piping around the neckline at at edge of front yoke, a large hook on the inside at the top of the yoke, and 4 hand-carved button (carved by my husband out of beech) to close the sides. This poncho is not only functional, it is very warm and comfortable. The thicknesses of the quilts that I am able to find varies, this one is medium-heavy, so it should be warm, great for colder temperatures. Because of the age of this quilt, there are a few spots on it that I could not cover. I felt that they did not take away from the beauty of the over-all piece. Pink and Blue Patchwork Carly Style Jacket Made from a Vintage Hand Stitched Quilt

My model, the famous Carsyn, is 5 foot 8 inches tall. This quilted jacket is very warm as I made it from a thicker handmade, hand stitched patchwork quilt. I created this pattern in conjunction with Heather Harris, owner of "Meanwhile Back on the Farm," who provided the pattern from a jacket she had made for herself. Features include a single toggle closure, extra long sleeves that can keep your hands warm or be folded up as cuffs, and flaring of the bottom giving this a cape look. All inside seams are finished/covered with binding fabric. This creates a finished look on the inside of the garment. I am a huge fan of pockets but I don't want to cover the beautiful patchwork pattern of the quilt, so you will find the outside pockets placed within the side seams of the jacket and I sewed
