Old-school brace and bit

It’s easy to forget that all carpentry was once done by hand. People used the power of muscle, skill, and what are now vintage tools.

Granddad’s hand tools some from the 40’s or earlier. I’ve had them for almost 20 years and today I finally got around to building a wall mounted framed board to display them in the downstairs den. As a child I remember Granddad using many of these old tools especially the hand ax and I loved using the Stanley Yankee Screwdriver and the Brace and Bit. I have no idea why he painted some of the tools with turquoise paint but I think it looks really neat today.
