Class quilt: use for pioneer lesson. each child shows a story of their choice in their quilt square. put it all together and make a quilt to hang on the wall.

Also called an art block quilt or novelty quilt. Charity quilting.

Quilted, bound and washed. Signed, sealed and delivered. It's DONE! Objective: Create an art quilt for Kindergarten teacher to celebrate her marriage and name change. I wanted to the kids' artwork to be the focus, so I choose black and white fabric to frame each square. Hand lettered the name and info boxes with the same lettering I use when writing for my daughter to copy. I thought about doing something on the PC, but I wanted the relaxed, fun look that went with the kids' handwriting…

Our Pre-K 3 class quilt is the cutest thing I've ever seen! We used the childrens' handprints to represent a theme or unit we have discussed this year. As you can see, it turned out precious! Our quilt is hanging in the activities building if you'd like to get a better look at it. The raffle tickets are on sale this week and the drawing will be at 2:30 on Friday. A collaborative quilt is a creative way for children to work together! The children made group quilts for our continuing celebration of the Indiana State Fair. My son's 4th grade class made this quilt for their teacher's end of year gift. It's made up of 28 squares - they traced their hands and decorated them with textile markers and in between I sewed strip quilted pieces for a fun bright thank you for a wonderful teacher. To finish our unit on quilts and work on story comprehension and retelling, we decided to make our very own story quilt. To make things easier, we read a classic fairytale and then gave each child a specific part of the story to illustrate on a 5x5 square. 50 x 62 When I was asked to make a quilt using kids hand prints, I wasn't really sure how it would work. I thought I was going to have to cut and send the fabric to my customer and then work with whatever came back. But she asked for some directions on cutting the fabric and took care of all the hand prints using a 9" square that she was careful to cut straight. On Monday we're delivering this quilt to my daughter's 3rd grade teacher. She knows it is coming--it was somewhat of a commissioned project.
