Lily of the Nile (Agapanthus africanus, other species and hybrids) is one of my favorite perennials because it is elegant and eye-catching when it blooms in May to July. At other times of the year, leaves of the broad-leaved cultivars stay upright and look attractive. This perennial grows in a variety of soil, moisture and light conditions, and it’s reliably deer-resistant.
