Snowman writing

Each year we complete a "How To" unit, and this year we will write a "How to Build a Snowman" book. I created this set of materials to use while we focus on our "How to Build a Snowman" writing. It includes emergent readers, a pocket chart, graphic organizers, a snowman craft and more. Students will complete all of these activities, and then write their "How to Build a Snowman" craft using what they learned.

Here is an anchor chart of verbs we made using the book Snowmen at Night. This is the perfect book for introducing verbs. As you can see the snowmen are very active at night. We had fun making snowmen with paper, buttons, cotton, snowflake confetti and googly eyes. The DK students went glitter crazy with the squeezy glitter on their snowflakes. The children made snowmen with their names. Each snowball had 1 letter on it. They added faces, hats and arms. We put our sight words into practice with some winter writing. The children drew about what they like to do in the winter.
