Snowshoe Rabbit

The snowshoe hare, also called the varying hare, or snowshoe rabbit, is a species of hare found in North America. It has the name "snowshoe" because of the large size of its hind feet. The animal's feet prevent it from sinking into the snow when it hops and walks. Wikipedia

Something a little different today… I came across this post by the USFWS - they write, “Snowshoe hares live in mountainous and northern regions of the United States. As snow melts each spring, this fashionable hare’s white fur begins to transition to a rusty brown color.” Photo by Loren Merrill
