It is Art Day!: Clay and Weaving! colored with oil pastels, construction paper crayons, and water color paint. Clay Weaving, Kids Weaving Projects, Clay Frame, Classe D'art, Hantverk Diy, Kids Clay, 4th Grade Art, Elementary Art Projects, Art Lessons Elementary

I'm brave, I tried a new lesson again.... I can say as we are completing these clay frames that you have to follow some basic rules or you will have broken frames. We have had only 3, but I did make extras. My 4th graders tackled this lesson with stoneware clay, and finished them with oil pastels, one color of watercolor paint and I painted modge podge on them when dry. The texture is the key part of the coloring process! I have rollers and rubber texture mats. At least pencil think and more…

This 4th Grade, Underwater Sculpture is not nearly as amazing in the photographs as they are in real life. I adore this project that Tracy Hare created with our students this year for Clay Week 2018. To see all the projects, please click here. Tracy and I are from Minnesota and both of us went to Florida for Spring break with our families (not together). She must have been inspired, and so was I. I had plans to do some observational drawing with shells and she had plans to make this sea life…

This lesson was inspired by a post at johnpost.us - a cute clay fishbowl. It provided us the opportunity to work with rolling clay slabs, coiling, modeling, and joining clay as well as surface texture and glazing. The first week, we discussed the differences & similarities in aquariums and terrariums, and rolled our slabs. We used a bowl as our "tracer" to get…

Cassie Stephens: How to Make a Fairy Door! 30 Minute Art Projects, Make A Fairy, Clay Projects For Kids, Clay Lesson, Cassie Stephens, Outfit Photos, Kids Clay, Air Dry Clay Projects, Clay Fairies

In my clay book, Clay Lab for Kids, I created this Fairy Door project. I decided to do it recently with my fourth grade students. We needed a short project (30 minute class, if possible...although most needed 2 classes) and one that would be a hit. We call them Mystery Creature door to allow the kids to really get the wheels turning on just what lies behind their door. I created a video in case you'd like to do this lesson with your students! Stay tuned on how we plan to finish these…
