It took me around 30 hours to get the credits in Fantasy Life but I roughly felt them, there are certain things that are stellar in this game, like the character design or environmental design, but for me the one that stood up the most was the writing, it has this comedic and beautiful tone that is not so common in a game aimed for "kids" but is brilliant, the gameplay is good but it felt kind of repetitive towards the end, maybe if I spiced things a little more with its job system which here is called "Life" maybe it could felt a little different. My biggest complaint is mostly in its quest system, mainly in its main quests, which felt too systematic and stiff, if you want to advance on the story you cannot bring your party (you have 2 slots for different party members), instead there is a scripted party that sometimes is only 1 partner, the problem is that if you accepted the main quest, you can't add or change the party set up till you finish that chapter, it may seem like a nitpick but it grew by the middle of the story, and it also doesn't help that every chapter is structured in a very similar way, so it feels kinda repetitive. Another minor issue is the music, it's composed by Final Fantasy's original composer Nobuo Uematsu, and it has a certain charm but it sounds a little bit generic or simplistic at times, which maybe is kind of the point because this game is so simple and user friendly, it simplifies a lot of the quirks and complex mechanics of a "grow up" RPG and puts them in a game aimed for little kids, that is quite the feature I think. Fantasy Life didn't change my life but I had a very pleasant time on it, its world is colorful and charming like a grandma tale, and it offers a simple but rewarding job system that even gives you a musical number when you master it. I think that FL is a nice entry to the RPG genre for little kids (I'm genuinely considering giving this game to my kids in the future) but it also has a nice challenge if you're up to the grinding.

I blasted my way out through XC2 and by the end, my play time was at 89 hours and I didn't notice at all. I think that Monolith Software is finding the balance between story and characters, my biggest issue with XC1 is that the characters didn't stand on par with the story, they were too generic, but here, even when they represent some cliches, they're likable and charming in their own way. The music is good and some of the tracks are amazing, they remind me a little of crono trigger, but a lot of them are kind of generic. The combat is not as amazing as XC1 or XCX but is still good and it has its own personality thanks to the blades system which is so refreshing, if you're into JoJo's Bizarre Adventure the blades are practically stands, also speaking of JoJo, one of the writers (Soraya Saga) is a big JoJo fan, so I will say that some of the character's backstories are very dark and similar to the ones that appear in parts 7 and 8 of that said manga, but that's just a baseless theory anyway. My issues with this game are that a lot of the side content is way too boring and generic as the back entries, and it needs a lot of mindless backtracking, the menu and hud are better than past entries but not for much, they need to sort that thing by the next entry. As for the blades, is an amazing system but it also depends a lot on luck, in order to unlock all the extra blades, you rely on certain items that summon by chance rare blades or normal blades, it seems to me more like a P2W mechanic and it also depends a lot on grinding, so I didn't like it at all. At last, the localization team seems to make a lot of changes in the names and some of the dialogue and is pretty noticeable when you play it with Japanese audio, and as far of fan service and anime-japanese things here is a lot of that, I like it but if you're easily triggered by cleavage and non-practical female outfits you may pass on this one. I think that this entry expands on the universe set by the first game and is better in almost everything, but is still a little far to become a classic, that being said when you finish the 12 hour tutorial is pretty damn fun onwards.

This game has aged amazingly well, music, character design, boss fights, animation, almost everything is incredibly good, my only concern is the controls, they're good but not perfect, and sometimes there are some slopes or jumps that feel kinda stiff. Aside from that, the challenge and the passing is great. I said that if you haven't played this, give it a shot.

Same as the first Sonic game, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has aged so well. In regards of control, music and challenge I think it surpasses its predecessor, I was having the time of my life till I get to the penultimate level and last level, the music doesn't quite match the height of the previous levels and my biggest issue, one that for me keeps this game of being a masterpiece is the level design, it just feels clunky, messy and pretty unfair, the unfairness comes when you go full speed or take a trampoline or something alike and then an enemy appears out of nowhere and hits you or kill you, I know that Sonic is more about of quick reflexes than speed but those hazards were really unfair. This issue goes on and on to the last levels and it's pretty noticeable, one of the things that save those levels are the platform segments which are pretty good, if only they were more abundant than those cheap enemies. Setting those complaints aside, the boss fights are great and especially the last fight which came with a surprise, it's very hard until you realize the pattern but even then it keeps the challenge. There are some things that I'll never forget about some games, and Sonic 2, even when I certainly didn't like some aspects, is such a joyous ride of speed and outstanding music, maybe its not a masterpiece but it's truly a classic.

After playing a lot of Smash 4, you'll find yourself quite familiar with Ultimate's mechanics and tweaks but it also has some things that may shake your ground a little. Initially, the gameplay feels incredible and more polished than ever, a lot of characters feel so different (except for the "echo" ones for obvious reasons) and in its massive roster, you'll mostly find at least one character that is suitable for your playstyle. Everything in this game is massive to the point that is overwhelming, you have a lot of stages, characters, music, options, etc. a lot of them are originally from past games but they're updated to the point that they feel fresh and new, also, the fact that they're adding a lot of content with the season pass it is just amazing.
There are several game modes to play this game, there's a pseudo story mode which is serviceable but not as memorable like space emissary in Brawl, you can play classic modes and obviously multiplayer, also, an addition that I really like and I have spend hours on it, is that now you can set up the massive soundtrack to every stage of your liking, is not perfect but it's cool. Although I'm certain that this is the best Smash game to this point, it has also things that keep it from being a masterpiece, the bigger one might be its online play, from matchmaking to playing with friends, is quite bothersome, in matchmaking often you'll fight with rules that you didn't apply, for example, I like to play in final destination only, zero items, stock, etc. but at least 2/6 fights I'll play on battlefield with items or timer, it doesn't sound like a big issue but trust me it really is, I'm not criticizing anyone's playstyle but what I'm trying to say is that nobody wins. Another issue on matchmaking is that if you find someone that you want to fight over and over, you're stuck with the character you choose, unlike in Smash 4 where you could switch between chars to make things more fun, it makes no sense. Its worth note that playing online with friends is also a hassle and it has its fair amount of issues but let's leave it at that. There are several nitpicks that maybe I'm the only one in this, as I told you, the roster is massive but you literally start with the original roster of 8 characters, and you have to unlock every one of them, they're not that hard to unlock mind you, but it keeps you from playing your mains for at least some hours, if this wasn't an all-star game I wouldn't have a problem with this, but its kind of pointless and frustrating to wait at times. Finally, I know that I'm alone in this one, but I liked a lot the customization mechanic of special moves they introduced in Smash 4, I know that they were banned in professional tournaments but from a semi-hardcore point of view, they added a lot of fun, I hope that they have a comeback of some sorts in the future or future entries. When all is said and done, and every character is at your disposal, be prepared to have an incredible time, especially when playing with friends locally or online (forgetting some issues there mind you). Smash Bros has this amazing quality that it doesn't matter that you're not great in fighting games, you'll certainly find a character or a playstyle you'll like the most in here and when you have that moment after an 8 player battle where you are the last one standing, it's truly glorious. Smash Bros Ultimate is a must for every Nintendo Switch owner, period, even when I have problems with it, they feel so minimal in comparison to its positive things.

This is a review of the Origins Ver. I never played the NES version but for what I read is very similar just taking out of the way some annoying things, that being said... At least for the first 15 hours (took me 32) there was a lot of boring mindless grinding, the problem is that feels unbalanced, some enemies were very difficult but gave almost as much exp as other ones that weren't as hard, but either way, the exp they gave was so little. Another thing that feels very unbalanced was the boss fights, it took a lot of time and grinding and backtracking to get to the boss's room but once when you get there it was very easy compared to all the stuff you need to get through. Another thing that was so frustrating was the random encounters, especially in the final dungeon (it was like 6 steps and bam! random encounter), they were so frequent and thanks to that and the mindless grinding I almost quit this game a lot of times... Which I'm happy I didn't because on the other hand there's a lot to like in this game, the music and the writing are charming, they're not great but have a lot of soul, the thing I liked the most was the sense of wonder, what kind of town will be the next, what kind of characters will be there, the dialogue is short but always good and important for your advance, so you better make some notes. When the time the epilogue was rolling and the story took a nice twist, I have this nice feeling that maybe FF I wasn't a goodbye letter but a promise letter, a promise that there's a lot of ideas and stuff that can be made in this universe given the opportunity, and as flawed as it is I think is worth your time,, just make sure you have the right mindset and time. Oh and whatever you do, have a Warrior on your party, there were a lot of armors and I think the most powerful weapons are only available to this class, I know because I couldn't use any of those.
